Posted July 14, Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options Ultima Posted July 14, If the user wants to carry on the download after removing the job from the list which would remove the partfile , then then pieces 1, 2, and 4 would be chucked after the hash check on the existing data take note: this is where the pieces are chucked and redownloaded becase because they share pieces with the skipped files, and are therefore incomplete after the partfile is removed.
Pieces 5 and 6 would be left alone, and files F and G wouldn't be touched because they're not the edge cases, and don't share data with the pieces that contain skipped files A, D and H. If you choose to download only file D after re-adding, then pieces 2, 3, and 4 will be redownloaded as they were incomplete , and they will all have to be redownloaded.
Choosing to download file H after re-adding won't affect any other pieces, as it doesn't share pieces with any other file. Posted July 15, Ok, got the general drift of piece-wise allocation. So I think it would be inviting trouble to copy the old files into the new installation wholesale, but I also don't know which files contain the information about the seeds and partial downloads. So if somebody can clue me in to which files do what, or how I can make uTorrent aware of what I'm trying to seed, and what I was in the process of downloading, I'd appreciate it.
The resume. It contains the info of all your jobs. Both of the old installation's resume files were only 1 kb, which made me suspicious, so I compared them using Windoze's native file compare fc. They were identical. Also identical to the new installation's resume file because I removed the one completed torrent.
Will it work if I re-add the torrents, then force a re-check? Sorry about asking for the hand-holding, but I don't want to do anything that might screw up the existing seed and partial downloads files, some of which are several GB.
